boojum

Boojum was born in New York City at Brooklyn Bowl during “Walrus in Wonderland,” a special one-time Halloween show where the Beatles jamband Walrus introduced an array of original songs inspired by Alice in Wonderland. Following the show's success and a collective enthusiasm to pursue original music, Walrus members Chris Mackin (guitar) and Josh Santiago (guitar) joined forces with Sarah Elaz (bass) and Mike Coiro (drums) to create Boojum, with lyrics crafted by Chris's brother, Tom Mackin, a poet and translator.

Boojum merges theatrical elements with live improvisation, calling themselves a “theatrical jamband” to enhance and explore their thematic material. The band blends elements of jam, EDM, funk, pop, and progressive music to create a backdrop for their storytelling, which is conveyed through a mix of song, comedy, and comedic dialogue.

Brought to you by the creators of Loop Troupe, Boojum's live shows are a spectacle of creativity, sometimes featuring elaborate costumes, dancers, actors, props, and projections. Beginning in 2016, Loop Troupe has produced hundreds of concerts, plays, musicals, and multi-media shows.

Boojum continues to write and record new music. Their debut EP, “Electric Wonderland, Vol. 1: Down The Rabbit Hole,” was released on May 13th, 2024.
