& the echosound

The Echosound formed during 2020 when the world was locked down, leading me to rediscover my old vinyl collection and rekindle my love for music. This reset inspired me to start playing and writing again. I called my longtime collaborator John Hanus, and we decided to jam weekly with great people who wanted to have fun. Our first call was to Zak Masoud, whose organic style and groove fit perfectly with John’s guitar playing. Next, we tracked down drummer Adam Manion, who brought incredible skill and the right personality to the group. Finally, we contacted Jeff Aderman, an old bandmate who had transitioned to production. Surprisingly, Jeff agreed to join us, completing our lineup.

We played as WADE throughout 2021, initially focusing on instrumental jam sessions. However, I soon reintroduced lyrical songs, leading to a shift in our creative direction. The band’s dynamic and collaborative approach brought new life to my songwriting, and we became "Mike Powell and The Echosound." Since 2022, we've enjoyed performing across New York and building strong connections with our fans.

Recently, we recorded our debut album, "Plastic Spoon Honeymoon," at Big Blue North in Utica. The album is now out, and I couldn’t be happier or more creatively fulfilled. Thank you for your support. We hope you enjoy the music.
